Awhile back Ethan & I saw the movie “Mr. Holmes” (as in Sherlock!). It got me thinking about how we have to do some good detective work when we want to start living healthy. We have to ask some questions.
A good detective knows that gathering evidence and finding answers takes time.
It’s the same with me and you. If you’re ready to start living healthy, grab a journal and start taking some notes.

It’s summer! Sun is shining. Days are getting longer. But for some reason you find yourself in a funk. Dealing with discouragement just as we’re heading into summer? How can that be?
Times of discouragement come when we least expect them. And it may be nothing more than a couple rainy days, and the feeling will pass when the sun comes out. Other times we just find ourselves in a funk. If you’re like me, you like schedules and predictability. Summer can be far from that. There are vacations. Alarm clocks aren’t set every morning. Activities. So many things to do and so little time.
This time of unexplained discouragement and slump makes me think of the first Easter. Palm Sunday seemed like the day of celebration but we know the dark days that followed. There were days of sadness and despair. There was quiet. We know the end of the story, but on that first Good Friday, they didn’t know the end of the story. They knew the prophecies, but were they true?

Over a week ago, I had the opportunity to be a guest on my friend Glenneth’s blog. I have been following Glenneth for quite some time. I love her approach to health and fitness that includes NO SCALE! In fact in one post, she wrote how she even refused to weigh in at the doctor’s office. Really?!?! Can you actually do that???? Yes you can. I know it not only because Glenneth shared how she did it, but because I followed her lead and began refusing the doctor’s scale as well!
So when Glenneth gave me the opportunity to write a post, I was thrilled to be on her blog and share my journey of ditching the scale.
I had a love/hate relationship with the scale my entire life. I started stepping on the scale at an early age. Before ditching the scale, Friday was weigh in day for me. I began getting anxious about it Thursday night…..if not before!
